The Isidori Family has owned & operated restaurants in the NYC area since 1954. They represent three generations of Chefs & Restaurateurs with restaurants that have spanned many New York City Boroughs to include Manhattan, Harlem, Brooklyn & The Bronx. Chef Joe Isidori is a Michelin star chef and three-time NYC Burger Bash champion. Isidori opened his first Arthur & Sons location in the West Village in 2022. Since then, Arthur & Sons has expanded to three more NYC locations, the most recent in Murray Hill which opened a few months ago.

Isidori’s brand has gained exposure with its popularity on TikTok and Instagram, but his food goes beyond an effective social media marketing campaign. Isidori stands behind the quality of his menu. And it shows.

My visit to the Murray Hill location began with a five-minute walk from Grand Central Station to the restaurant. This Arthur & Sons location is just a few blocks away from the train making it easily accessible for its Fairfield County neighbors. I took my mother-in-law for an early Sunday dinner. She immediately commented on the Tiffany pendant style-stained glass shade hanging lights which prompted a story of how she used to make stain glass art. The lights go perfectly with the décor of white and red checkered table clothes, exposed brick, and graffiti art contributing to the vibe. All the elements coming together to create an atmosphere of urban, old-school Italian.

Mama Linda opted for a hot tea while I needed something a little stronger. I always order a martini when blue cheese stuffed olives are offered on the menu. Made with vodka, olive juice and appropriately named “Dirty” this martini warmed me up on a chilly winter day. For appetizers we selected Fried Calamari, Baked Clams Oreganata, and the Eggplant Stack alla Arturo. The calamari was lightly breaded and perfectly cooked complimented by the rich marina sauce. The eggplant was a showstopper. Layers of breaded and fried eggplant with fresh mozzarella, prosciutto, tomato, red roasted peppers and finished with balsamic. The presentation was impressive while the medley of flavors and textures was truly amazing. I highly recommend ordering this appetizer to start an incredible dining experience. For entrees we ordered four dishes. Since it was Sunday, we asked for the Old School Sunday Gravy. Whether you are team “Gravy” or team “Sauce” this dish is a winner. Two moist and delicious meatballs, paired with two flavorful sausages served over rigatoni topped with ricotta cheese in a slow cooked sauce. The Pork Chop served with potatoes and hot cherry peppers only available on special for just another week. The peppers paired well with the savory potatoes and thick, juicy pork. We had to try the Instagram famous Spicy Rigatoni with a chicken cutlet. It did not disappoint. The seafood pasta medley called the Golden Naples with shrimp, calamari, clams in a red sauce was another excellent dish. Isidori definitely knows his red sauce.

Even though we were thoroughly stuffed we couldn’t say no to dessert. Mama Linda enjoyed the Spumoni My Way which brought her back to childhood. The limoncello cheesecake was bursting with flavor. My absolutely hands down favorite were the cannolis. They brought me a whole plate of creamy, silky ricotta and chocolate chip filled delights. The best I have ever tasted.
