The casino is made up of three: Casino of the Earth, Casino of the Sky and Casino of the Wind, all in an open layout that makes it easy to navigate. Last weekend, I visited Comix Roadhouse, the newest dining/entertainment addition to compliment the Mohegan Sun family. Once known as Comix comedy club, Comix Roadhouse has expanded to become an all-encompassing entertainment venue. Staying with the theme of “something for everyone,” Comix Roadhouse offers live entertainment, stand-up comedy, a restaurant/bar, mechanical bull, line dancing, and Roadhouse dancers to help you” get your country on”. Executive Chef, Marc Digalbo has spent a great deal of time in Austin, Texas and knows his barbecue, “What I like most about what I do is the creativity. I get to play with food for a living.” 95% of the menu is made in-house. The St. Louis Style Ribs are prepared with a homemade dry rub, smoked in-house for at least 6 hours and then charbroiled. The result, tender, flavorful hickory smoked meat. Burnt ends, pulled pork and brisket are also menu items that are smoked in-house. The meat is slow cooked slathered with a homemade honey bourbon sauce. Chef Digalbo uses Old Frontier Bourbon aged 8 years in his BBQ sauce. I can’t think of anything better than a nice, cold beer to accompany my barbecue.   Choose from 30 craft beers, 24 of which are on draft. Flights are available to try a variety of beers and pick your preference.

After dinner, I attended the comedy show. That evening, stand-up comedian, Rocky Laporte, left the audience in tears with his humorous observations on life enriched by his thick New York accent and big Italian gestures. Guests can order almost anything off of the bar and dinner menu to enjoy during the show.

To continue my stay, I spent the night in a Deluxe King room inside the Earth Tower. The Earth Tower is the newest hotel onsite. Drawing on its name, the design is calm and serene invoking a sense of balance and stability. The room has a sleek, modern design with beautiful views of the vast natural landscape and the Thames River. Staying overnight in the hotel allowed me to appreciate the duality between the sunset and sunrise versions of Mohegan Sun. In the morning, work out in the state-of-the art fitness center and then take a dip in the pool or hot tub located within the Sky Tower Hotel. Grab a cup of coffee and a pastry at Bean & Vine Wine Bar adjacent to the Earth Tower lobby. Relax outside on the expansive patio. Book a service at the Mandara Spa. “Mohegan Sun provides a perfect medley of relaxation and exhilaration.
