Every time I go to city I see something in a new light. A mural I didn’t notice before even though I’ve walked past it a few times. A charming brownstone that appears to look identical to the others but this time it’s a little different. I could visit the city everyday for the rest of my lifetime and I would never be able to see everything. Over a million people sharing space on one island intertwined by geography, their stories separate but somehow everyone intersects. I love the energy, the passion and the way that New Yorkers romanticize their lives. And that’s the beauty of NYC. It’s always a unique experience.

Our trip into Midtown, Manhattan was no different. From Grand Central Station we walked to East 53rd street. Outside of the restaurant I took my Carrie Bradshaw inspired picture as a tribute to the series that empowered women to be independent, fun and free. Sex and the City taught women to support women and build their lives around the foundation of their friendships. How fitting that my date for the evening is a friend that embodies the ultimate girls’ girl.

Upon entering 212 Steakhouse, we chose a table by the window perfect for people watching: A woman doing Pilates on the sidewalk, dog after dog enjoying a beautiful spring day, lovers strolling hand in hand with no obvious destination in sight. The atmosphere was intimate and inviting. Our waiter handed us a tablet to complement the regular menu. The interactive technology allowed us to choose a glass or a bottle of wine or even champagne from the digital platform. We selected two glasses of Super Tuscan. The seafood platter for two was the ultimate show stopper. Thick, large succulent shrimp, fresh, briny PEI oysters, tender meaty octopus and sweet Maine lobster meat. In addition, we ordered the Oysters Rockefeller and the Fried Calamari for appetizers. The Oysters Rockefeller was the perfect ratio of spinach, parmesan and Pernod. The calamari was lightly breaded and fried served with aioli. For our main course, we selected the Australian Wagyu Dry-Aged 40 oz Porterhouse for two which was nothing short of amazing accompanied by our chosen sides: Truffled Mash, Creamed Spinach and Sauteed Mixed Mushrooms. For dessert we satisfied our sweet tooth with the Tiramisu. Heavenly layers of espresso-soaked lady fingers and mascarpone sprinkled with edible gold dust.

This elite dining experience was decadent and luxurious. Our waiter was attentive and knowledgeable. Don’t sleep on this hidden gem. Visit 212 Steakhouse for hospitality at its finest along with quality meat and seafood. I am certain that Carrie and the ladies on Sex and the City would agree that it’s pleasures like these shared with girlfriends that make life worth living. https://www.212steakhouse.com/
